Using Business Source Premier

You will want to use Business Source Premier, found on the Business Research Guide, when researching a company within an industry.  MarketLine Company Reports are available through the database, as well as industry profiles.  Watch the video the learn how to use the unique features of this robust database.

Industry Profiles: To locate industry profiles, simply type the name of the industry you wish to research.  Then, use the "Source Types" option in the limiters on the left of the results page to choose the "Industry Profiles" option.  This will limit your results list to only industry profiles.  Begin by using broad search terms, then add more specific terms using the second and third search boxes.  You will also notice a "Company Profiles" option on the right side of the results page which will list company names with links to their respective MarketLine Reports.

Company Reports: The demonstration video tells you to access company reports, to use the "Company Profiles" link found in the "More" dropdown menu, but that link has been moved to the third option located in the upper left hand portion of the page on the dark gray header.  Simply click "Company Profiles" and either type the name of the company you wish you research in the search bar or use the hyperlinked alphabet to browse the available company names.  Be sure to click the "Match Any Words" button if you are unsure of the exact name of the company.

Using LexisNexis Academic

LexisNexis Academic, also found on the Business Research Guide, is another great option for locating company reports.  Notice the "Get Company Info" gray box in the bottom right corner.  This is the fastest way to limit your results to only company information.  You will only be given a snapshot at first, you must either use the expanders located on the left or choose options within the "Generate Report" option located next to the company name to view more in depth company information.

Watch the video for detailed help searching LexisNexis Academic.
